Due to an IPv6 related error, the subtitles aren´t displayed properly. Hopefully Google is going to be able to solve this problem. 9th Hacks-Talk “thoroughly opportunistic” – Peter Hacks and the politics of art. Jens Mehrle interviews Klaus Höpcke. Mr. Höpcke was the Deputy Minister of Culture of the German Democratic Republic. He and Peter Hacks knew each other well. The interview took place on the 30th of March 2011 at the HABBEMA – Stage of the Peter-Hacks-Society. The director of this theatre is Cox Habbema. An excerpt of the song “The precious treasure at the bottom of the well” ,being an adaptation based on lyrics written by Peter Hacks, performed by Marco Tschirpke, musician, singer, songwriter and author, is played at the beginning. It has been released on the cd-album “The sky is full of steam – Marco Tschirpke sings Peter Hacks”. You can find further pieces of information on these sites. Moving into 2011, the photo was published in a blog titled "Internet Cafe Software – Mounting Use Of Internet." And it was published in a Feb 25, 2011 blog titled Five Latest Trends For Enterprise Software." It was also published in a Jul 22, 2011 blog titled "No 1 For Prices. Comet."

**************************************

Visitors to my Flickr site sometimes assume that I’m a full-time photographer, but that’s hardly the case. As I’ve explained on my profile page, my "day job" is in the computer field: I work as a consultant, speaker, and author in software development and project management. That job includes speaking at various computer conferences, including the IT Metrics and Productivity Institute’s "Software Best Practices" conferences that are held in various parts of the country.

That’s what brought me to Ft. Lauderdale in mid-November this year. I thought I might find some interesting photographic opportunities when I arrived on the afternoon before the conference, but the beach was almost empty, and the "strip" along the beach seemed to consist of relatively boring bars and Mexican restaurants. So, aside from a single picture of a mysterious bird that I saw waddling along the street (an osprey? heron? who knows?), most of the pictures are of various speakers at the conference itself. These may not mean much to you, but it will give at least a small sense of some of the issues that software professionals and IT managers care about in today’s tough economic times…
